A Tribute to AWSD’s Water, Wastewater, and Administrative Staff

 

As we pause to remember September 11, we honor the police officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, members of our Armed Forces, and countless others whose courage and sacrifice revealed the finest qualities of public service.

 

We also recognize dedicated public servants whose work is less visible but no less essential: the water, wastewater, and administrative staff of the Anthony Water and Sanitation District.

 

Day and night, in ordinary circumstances and during emergencies, our operations personnel protect public health by providing safe drinking water, maintaining critical infrastructure, responding to service disruptions, and ensuring that wastewater and its byproducts are collected, treated, and managed safely. Their responsibilities do not end when the workday is over. They serve through extreme weather, equipment failures, infrastructure emergencies, holidays, and moments when the community depends upon them most.

 

Alongside them are AWSD’s administrative personnel, whose service is vital to every part of the district’s mission. They communicate with customers, coordinate emergency responses, maintain essential records, administer billing and collections, manage finances and purchasing, support regulatory compliance, and provide the organizational foundation that enables field operations to succeed. During emergencies, they help ensure that information is accurate, resources are available, and the public receives timely assistance and direction.

 

Water and wastewater professionals are essential first responders and guardians of public health. Administrative employees are also critical staff, providing the coordination, accountability, and public service necessary to sustain the district’s operations. Together, they support homes, hospitals, schools, businesses, fire protection, and the daily life of our community.

 

Much of what they accomplish happens quietly—underground, behind facility gates, at treatment facilities, and within the district office—but its importance is felt every time a faucet is opened, a fire hydrant is needed, wastewater is safely carried away and treated, or a customer receives assistance.

 

On this solemn day of remembrance, we express our gratitude to every member of the AWSD team for their vigilance, skill, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to public service. Their combined efforts protect lives, preserve our environment, maintain public trust, and strengthen the community we share.

 

To our water, wastewater, and administrative personnel: your service is indispensable, your dedication is deeply valued, and your contribution to the safety and well-being of our community will never be taken for granted.
